Lost of all my characters

i play 3 hours today, i log back after 1 hour and all i dont have any of my four characters...
Any explications the servers are down, crash ?? | |

I had been playing for PoE for about 3 weeks or so, and I just noticed that I had not registered my account. Witch i did, and now my entire list of characters are gone. I'd like to believe that it isn't connected.
