Will we be getting any information/numbers as to how poison actually works?

What percent of damage done in a hit is applied as a poison stack?

How long does a single stack of poison take to deal its complete damage?

When linking something like Ethereal Knives to the Poison support gem, what can affect that poison? Can Rapid Decay work? Can Increased Duration (Whether support gem or nodes on tree) lengthen the duration of poison applied via the Poison support gem?
information about the first two is already available, it's not like poison's not already in the game. Default poison is 10% of the initial hit's damage (now chaos and phys damage only though) as chaos damage per second for 2 seconds. GGG didn't bring up anything suggesting either of those factors is changing, so that's almost certainly where they'll stay.

As for the support gem, we won't really know til we see the gem for ourselves (it's the one gem coming with 2.1 that they've never linked so far in any teasers and previews, irritatingly enough). If it has a duration tag, duration-based mechs should affect it. If not, they probably won't.

What about something like Contagion + Poison + Void Manipulation (More Chaos Damage)? Since poison deals chaos damage, would Void Manipulation double dip and buff both the DoT of Contagion and the subsequently applied poison? Or does it only affect the main skill?

well, that particular setup won't work... contagion is a DoT skill, it doesn't hit, and therefore can't poison.


However, if you were to poison with something that deals chaos damage and link void manipulation to it (such as using 100% fire-to-chaos flameblast or something), yes, there would be a double-dipping effect. The chaos from the initial hit would be amplified by, causing a poison with a higher base, and then that already-stronger base poison would be amplified by the more chaos damage modifier as well. Same type of deal as puncture.

Would you actually need the Poison support gem with The Consuming Dark? (Your Chaos Damage Poisons Enemies). Could you equip that dagger and your Chaos/Fire spells would poison?

Of course you wouldn't need the support, that's the point of consuming dark having that affix.
