Deadeye Far Shot - Point Blank

Is this gonna make Point Blank more viable for all rangers and not only niche builds?


As we know Point Blank reduces damage as the projectile travels further dealing up to -100% damage:



The Far Shot passive (Projectile Attacks gain damage as they travel further, dealing up to 30% more damage to targets) can reduce this penalty when the projectile travels further. Unfortunately we don't really know yet about the distance specifics of the Far Shot passive.

This means that we gain up to 50% more damage at close range and we might still have to sacrifice a bit of damage at long range but not as much as it used to be with only Point blank due to Far Shot mechanics?

It's all multiplicative scaling, combining Point Blank with Far Shot is going to be a little bad?

If Far Shot scales the same way (granting bonuses at the point PB starts penalising Damage), it'll barely reduce the penalty. At the -60% point, Far Shot would grant +18% More Damage, totaling 47.2% normal Damage. Just beyond that, you're dealing 36.3% Damage.

Well if we assume that it scales like that:

at, -10 % less it gains 5 % more, at -20 % less it gains 10 % more, ... , at -60 % less it gains 30 % more.

Lets assume that we do 10'000 damage

(10000)*(1-0.1)*(1+0.05) = 9450 = 94.50 % of damage
(10000)*(1-0.2)*(1+0.1) = 8800 = 88 %
(10000)*(1-0.3)*(1+0.15) = 8050 = 80.5 %
(10000)*(1-0.4)*(1+0.2) = 7200 = 72 %
(10000)*(1-0.5)*(1+0.25) = 6250 = 62.5 %
(10000)*(1-0.6)*(1+0.3) = 5200 = 52 %

Yeah it seemed to scale better without the calculations :D

Point Blank scales from 0% to -100% though, it doesn't just end at -60%. It is possible that Far Shot simply scales to the end of the screen, which would make it a fair bit stronger.
