Quecholli jagged maul with totems

I have been experimenting with this unique and noticed that the enemies explode does not trigger with all of the totems. I have not been able to test every totem but this is what i have noticed
Searing bond does not trigger it at all.
Many spell totem combos work.
Firestorm with spell totem occasionally fails to cause explosion. (Burn kill or not)

Tried it with Righteous Fire Spelltotem. Did not result explosions.

Maybe it is the same as "On Kill" from passive nodes and therefore will not work with Spelltotem atleast.
