Plans to reintroduce the old GUIs?

Coming back from a long break, I was surprised to find the GUI changed so dramatically in v2.0.
I understand that the developers felt the need to change up things with their latest large content patch. It's great to see how much the game has grown, but I cannot help but feel that change for change's sake is against the original design philosophy for Path of Exile.

I always thought that the bronze iteration was the best in fitting with the overall theme of the game. While the silver iteration was different, there was no overall loss in quality (GUI still reacted to the environment) and there was still a natural progression (bronze->silver).
The black latest iteration just reeks of generic fantasy and lacks the design elements of the previous iterations. There are no lions in Wraeclast. A skull too? Really.

I understand that the developers want to expand or widen the appeal of the game because the casual gamer market is where the real money is at. The developers are probably tired of their original userbase, but at the very least, they could allow the user to make the decision, as to which GUI they would like to play the game with.

Even bringing the old GUIs as micro-transactions would be acceptable. Just please allow the user to make that decision.

Don't see much of chained up women, either.

Also, i've personally read at least 10 threads about this subject worthy of being Necro'd due to large quantities of posts in them.

Did you mean not worthy of being necro'd? Because if not, I'd like to see these threads.

Touché.
It would be more proper to write:

If there are no lions, how do we have a Marceus LIONeye?

Hmm...

Easy. Cannibalism.

I don't know of any plans to change the UI back, however it needed an update so I don't expect them to be made any time soon.

I've seen this argument in several threads on this topic, and I find it interesting because the lion and the skulls do have specific lore connections to the PoE setting and to Act 4 in particular.

Imagery of chained up women on the other hand is extremely common in fantasy, but has no obvious specificity to any particular setting or story. It's even more common if you want to just consider damsels in distress as a general concept.

This isn't an official stance declaration or invitation to an argument on fantasy iconography or whatever, I just find it interesting how rarely that point comes up in these threads.

As Marceus is one of the mane characters in the lore line, the templar might explain Marceus' sobriquet by saying that "Pride cometh before a fall."

Maybe GGG will reveal these lions later on. It would be cool to encounter some fierce corrupted lions whose roar alone was a devastating weapon.

Right. The meeting where the fate of the globes was decided must have been a sight to behold.

Be that as it may, there is already a user-made mod that restores the globes to their former glory, but since it tinkers with the game files it's not officially condoned by GGG and might lead to action being taken against your account. Make of that what you will.
