Subtronic's Magma Orb guide - CRIT / ACRO + EVA - 30K AoE DMG



Hello and welcome to my build guide for Shadow Crit Magma Orb. I decided to try out a new skill for the Awakenings league. Choose Magma Orb to see how I could maximize the skill's radius while critting as much as possible, thus hoping to see a lot of burning mobs. I have not been disappointed so far (lvl 89), feels like I'm running around with a legacy Elemental Proliferation!

Note: I play on Warbands and consider this build _not_ HC viable.


Introduction
Magma Orb is a new fire spell skill introduced with PoE the Awakening. The skill has some unusual behaviour such as a static projectile speed, which cannot be modified (with passives or support gems). Leveling

I started using Magma Orb at level 1. Use a +1 Fire Gem Wand until level 24, then buy a Reverberation Rod (currently 1 alch in Warbands). I used the RR until the end of Merc A3, when I gathered some currency to buy these two wands (for 5 chaos combined) which I used till level 84.


20 skill points - life, some mana and damage mods for easy leveling

40 skill points - more life, swith to witch tree for more life, mana and increase radius nodes

60 skill points - more life and mana, we take Acrobatics and Arrow Dancing

80 skill points - we start to focus on crit chance, taking power charges in shadow and witch area, as well as crit nodes. Phase Acrobatics taken as well

29.5k tooltip deeps with 6 power charges
58% chance to crit with 6 power charges

Single target: Fire Trap + Trap and Mine Damage + Concentrated Effect + Increased Critical Damage
Use this for tricky bosses / rares, very handy and safe at times
