Yes, that used to be the way it worked, now each socket group gives a different instance of the skill, so you can have two differently supported versions.

Oops, forgot to post here about that one as well.
There was a bug with ice nova introduced with the totems and traps where the effective kill radius couldn't be increased (it's actually more complicated than that, but that was the result in most cases). It's fixed now. | |
