All characters missing

All of my characters have gone missing. After searching the forums for a solution for awhile, it seems to be caused from clicking the link in the activation email i was sent when the account was first created on Jan 25. I had been playing since open beta without ever activating it, and so assumed it was only needed for the forums, and the title reads "Your account need to be activated." After checking the email again to make sure it wasn't some kind of hack attempt (it is from support@grindinggear.com), it says at the bottom "activating this account will override any previously created account." I believe this is related, even tough this is my only account and I have not had a previous one. I don't know why I would receive an email telling me my account needs to be activated if it would only erase everything, but I really hope this gets sorted out.
For everyone reading: DO NOT ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT.

GGG wont restore accounts. Even if its not your fault. -.-
