1H + Shield w/ Aegis Aurora (Lvl 83) - Added Video
" I use my mana pool for auras. " Yea, I don't know about molten shell. I'm sure it might be good if I put it in with a lot of support gems. I'll have to give it another go. I honestly might forget ground slam completely. If I ever get a 5L or 6L i'll put all my DPS into single target. Bring Auras + high Single target dps to the group while soaking up damage. I just cant see ever getting GS dps up that high. Edit: After messing around w/ Molten Shell, I realized you have to use the Iron Will support gem with it. I didn't realize it's tagged a spell. That's why the damage on it totally sucks. A lvl 13 Molten Shell is doing 1097-1645 now which is double what it was before (my 100% bonus from 500 strength). Edit: Added Concentrated affect to get it to about 2.4k top end dmg. Not bad. Haven't tested it yet. I might say to hell with ground slam. Last edited by big_aug#3072 on Feb 13, 2013, 9:04:08 PM

i'm wondering how would pure CI build would be with this shield, if u say chaos mobs are the only problem you have. life regen would apply to ES through Zealoth's Oath and mb take Ghost Reaver as well.

" I think it would be sick if you could get enough ES. If I could have 5K ES with the amount of life regen I have right now applying to ES, I would totally do it. Last edited by big_aug#3072 on Feb 14, 2013, 2:21:44 AM

Thank you for putting in the effort to test numbers, i would probably make sense to adjust the build to start from templer area and get the radius of area and elemental dmg nodes, using more elemental-reliant attacks in the early levels like lightning strike and Glacial hammer
and while we start in this area we might think about Hooosts notion about CI ! i gotta sit down and take alook at the Tree, since i don't know if/ what they changed since closed beta. If you don't mind, i'd like to discuss this in your thread, since i see this more as a variation of your nice build rather than a new one. Greetz, Rhagius |

well i mentioned CI only because of his unique shield (Aegis), without it the CI build would suck i think. :) plus kinda hard at lower lvls. u definitely have to prepare for this build, not just start a char and roll with it, but it's a strong one.

concerning CI it's a given that you'd have to make sure you have the aegis and are able to respec a whole bunch of points, but the idea itself is quite interesting nonetheless
from the first glances at the tree, trying to implement Molten Shell, it's quite obvious now that i'd have to forgo the 1H dmg, taking elemental dmg, area of effect etc, changing the build way too far to resemble the OPs initial build |

" surviving in this game is like 20% about the build and 80% about luck in connection. You might have amazing build but get desync and die or get killed in loading screen etc. That build is terrible, passive tree is fucked up, u might pick up worst skill in a game and manage to get lvl100 with it if your a pussie mod overlvling instances. But the main point is in online hardcore games you fight against connection and server issues and bugs not againts the content. I can bet anything that if PoE would be offline amount of death in community would decrease tremendously. IGN chistor

I uploaded kind of a crappy clip of a level 67 map. I cut out a portion that isn't horrible. The rest is basically unwatchable with the choppiness.
I was trying out Molten Shell. I still don't know how I feel about it. I think with a high quality skill gem, it might do a lot of damage fully leveled up. |

Seems to me that this build suits a Templar start more than a Marauder, since it puts you right on top of all the Templar's elemental goodies and also closer to the Witch tree to get ES related nodes.

" Yea, it probably does. Keep in mind that the point isn't to rely on ES though. It's to have just enough to keep it up through a bad stretch of RNG where you don't block. That was my thinking at least. Add with that it mind, I radically respecced my skill tree. I dropped all the pure armor passives and two of the body and soul passives. After being enlightened, armor is utterly useless for anything other regaining ES on block. This leaves me 5.5k armor, 615 ES, and gaining about 220 ES per block instead of 315 ES. I'll be switching my gloves/boots for Armor/ES gear to pick up a bit more ES. Getting a bit more will make up for lost amount regained on block. I picked up the weapon elemental damage nodes in the templar area because I notcied Weapon Elemental Damage is a good boost to Glacial Hammer. I picked up the two mace DPS passives near the start of the the Marauder tree. I'll be getting the 15% dmg/10% Stun threshold when I level. Another level or so and I'll respec and pick up the 6th end charge. I might do that next level actually instead of the DPS passive. We'll see how this goes in the higher level maps. The shield might start breaking more often, but that's fine. I still have a ton of regen and a good amount of HP. End game shield choice comes down to the Lioneye's Remorse or the Aegis Aurora. Being that armor is pretty god awful, I'd rather use some ES and get some regen going on block and give up the 90ish life on the Lioneye's. It works out to be more total raw HP than the HP anyway. I gave up on Molten Shell. The cast time is so slow. I just can't take it. My DPS now: Glacial Hammer - 4.4k Ground Slam - 2.2k This is still with a 4L. Skill Tree:
