Help a noob

Hi, can someone explain me how corupted gems works? I replaced ordinary reave gem to a corupted one and now i can't use reave.

Okay, it sounds like you have a Vaal Reave (Vaal gems are a subset of corrupted gems). Vaal gems let you use more powerful versions of regular skills, but they require souls to be used. In order to charge up a Vaal skill, you have to kill a certain number of enemies (you can see how many in the gem description, and watch it fill up in the toolbar). Then you can use the skill (most Vaal gems can only store enough souls for 1 use at a time, but some can store more).
Vaal Reave, for example, attacks 7 times and grants a Reave stack for every enemy hit, up to a maximum of 8 (the usual max is 4). You can then keep up your extra stacks as normal. So Vaal Reave is amazing, but it's basically a range increase for your regular Reave, not a damage skill. " Ty for help, it is a vaal Reave and it needs 24 souls for 1(max) charge, i dont rly get why its so great, coz i use reave+multistrice as my main skill, so i cant use a vaal reave as my main... why its a great gem ?)) |

You build up souls, then use Vaal Reave. Bam, as long as Vaal Reave hits enemies, the AoE of your normal Reave is almost doubled. Then you just keep using Reave to kill stuff as normal, and as long as you keep hitting stuff you keep the Vaal Reave stacks and get a doubled AoE basically for free.

Yes. But take it from someone who's playing Reave right now, it's enormously strong to get all that AoE.
