I am making a Skill Tree App, Need your Help! *Updated*
Okay, I am making a skill tree app. By the time I get done it will be for Android and iOS (as well as nook, fire etc). Totally free, but at least to start out with pretty simple. Please post what types of features you'd like to see and any suggestions on how to build it. I am working on the database now that houses all of the skill info. The tree is huge, its a lot of data entry.
You can follow my progress and send suggestions directly to me on twitter: @POESkillTreeApp GGG, if you don't want me to do this please let me know. Oh yeah, and let me know if you'd actually use such a thing. Its a ton of work if only a handful of people are interested. Last edited by MoleMan#1275 on Feb 16, 2013, 2:14:41 PM

In case you didn't know, there is an unofficial offline skill calculator.

Yeah and it is fantastic, but it doesn't work on my phone/tablet. That's why I am trying to gauge interest. Its a multiple week project for me and I have seen several threads asking for an app, but if its 15 people that will use it I may save the effort.

I think more than a few people would use it. I know I keep checking to see if it will magically appear in the app store.
Best feature would be having a tab or something to show all gained bonuses from current build. |

Mortal321, I'm guessing he does know. Many people have requested this app, however.
MoleMan, thank you so much for endeavoring on this! This will probably be a lot of work, and getting it to apply to all format types will take a lot of extra effort. I know many people on here will really appreciate it, and I'll for sure download it on my iPhone when it's done. :) Suggestion: As the tree is one where you normally scan your mouse over nodes before choosing them, and then click to open one, it can be difficult to implement this. An idea that I have that might work to remedy this for touch formats is to rely on the scrolling system. Here's my idea: Have a small crosshair in the center of the screen. Any node that is on that crosshair has its properties shown in a box either on the bottom or top of the screen. Pressing directly in the center of the screen selects or deselects any node that is on that crosshair. Pressing any node *other* than that one centers the screen to that node (and thereby shows the properties in the aforementioned box). Pressing anywhere that does not have a node, and then holding and dragging, allows you to scroll through the tree, moving your screen, and thereby the crosshair. I feel that this method would be most intuitive for the user experience, and would solve some issues that had been brought up in a previous thread about this. Moreover, it would save you some work, because then you can simply import the existing skill tree as a picture, and set parameters for where nodes are. Your commands would all be simple, and it would still function in almost every way as the current passive skill tree on the website. There are additional features that would be interesting to implement, but I feel like this is a good start. I hope to see the fruit of your labor soon enough. Again, thanks for working on this. Great! I search every week on iOS hoping someone has done it :).
Main features I'd like is: a) Able to load links of skill tree's posted on forums etc to the phone to load it. b) Like the off-line version, be able to see all the total stats provided. c) Be able to save more than 1 build at a time - and potentially naming them - to reference back to later. Advanced features: a) Be able to compare 2 different sets of skill tree's where it will populate the difference (i.e., a list of the differences such as +37% fire res, 20% less max hp etc). Good luck. ign KlearSpeed

Seems like a great idea and there are already good suggestions in this thread. Will definitely use it on my phone/tablet when it comes out ;)

i would install it on android
and it'd be nice if it had features found in Blackclaw's scripts, recap and comparator Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...
