What Are You Playing?

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Also been dabbling with the beta of Duelyst, which is fun but hasn't entirely proven itself yet.
I've got a few other games theoretically in progress, but MH has pretty much taken all the gaming time I have left (which has already been reduced with work on getting the beta ready and updated).

on the 3ds? do you play solo, with pals or with randoms? never played a MH but Ive always been bi-curious.
Some solo, play with friends rather than randoms for the guild content, but we sometimes open the hall to randoms if we don't haven enough people for a full four, and have had mostly good experiences with them. But with friends we have skype for communication, which helps a ton. MH is a game you want to be able to talk with your team-mates, because you need to engage tactically and not be in each other's way, which is why local multiplayer has always been preferred. However, my hunting buddies have spread across the country now, and 4u has great online play which with the addition of a skype call, has been the next best thing.

I'd highly recommend 4U as a starting point if you're interested in the series, it's a notably better start in terms of reducing the amount of stuff it throws at you before you actually get to the "real" gameplay. Obviously much better if you have friends you can get into it to play with.
Do "not games" count as playing?

I finally got back to playing through Torchlight 2 tonight. After probably a year or more of not getting around to it I picked up the story where I left off.

Turns out I was halfway through the final dungeon, so I just killed the final boss and now I'm done.

Back to not playing I guess.

My dear Dan, i can proudly suggest you a fairly unknown game. Where you hack and slay through hordes of monsters. But you have to farm a lot to get some good stuff. There is also Crafting and Partyplay! You can Build your own toon, plan around a skill or an item you've found (or trade). You'll find a sort of currency. The best is, you don't need a High-End PC. Even your 10 year old toaster can host it! Sure, sometimes you have to deal with desync and scumbags.
You can play melee, ranged and even spellcaster! You can be a lightning trowing Thundergod, or a Leonidas (y'all know the Spartan king right?). You can be a Summoner, raising skeletons and other creatures! You can even be a Trap laying Killer.
But wait, there is more! You can also throw mighty Fireballs! If you want you can perform a kind of a whirlwind or you can equip CLAWS! Yes CLAWS!

isn't it purely amazing?

So what is this game?
Its called "Diablo II" Or the expansion "lord of Destruction"
Spoiler

What a delightful sounding game! I'll have to give it a go!

Spoiler
I actually started a playthrough recently. I found Path of Exile before ever played D2, so it seems like something worth catching up on.

Hint hint. No good enough end-game?

I honestly don't remember why I stopped playing. Maybe something else came out and I meant to pick it back up at some point? I didn't hate it or anything.

I don't have any physical instruments, but I love seeing what I can do with FL Studio 11 :P

I haven't owned a real kit for a couple of years now. I'm hoping I can change that fairly soon.

You are doing it right. Have fun with the playthrough!

I have been!

I've been enjoying it a lot, and although I've not been able to find much decent gear, I like to think I've held my own pretty well over the course of the first two acts.

Then I died a billion times to Duriel.

That was an absolutely horrible boss fight.

It's nothing but cramped quarters and an ultra-fast, ultra-damaging enemy that stunlocks and freezes you to death before you can react. Between kiting, NPC friends and spamming health potions, the only thing adding more than a couple of seconds to my lifespan was the endless backtracking from the spawn point to the arena.

Not to mention having to contend with the death penalty that puts you at a disadvantage every subsequent time you fight, because you don't have any of your gear.

Ultimately I defeated him by throwing several dozen lives at him, each hitting him with 1-3 fireballs before dying a second later. Then Tyrael complained that I took too long.

Got back from vacation and fired up PoE. Ran a couple of dailies and shut it off again.

Fired up Loadout and after three games with nothing but green players, shut it down again.

Said fuck it and started a new Skyrim game. Pure vanilla two handed tank. If that fails to spark an interest, hell if I know. Maybe real life?

I always end up sneaking everywhere and back stabbing everyone, even if I try my best not to in Skyrim.

Even after mods sneak attack breaks the game completely.

Decided to pickup Shadowrun Chronicles.

Will have to see how this goes.

On the plus side, running blows produce some pretty hilarious results if you slightly bump the guy while running before whacking them.

There are some pretty entertaining ragdoll mods. Having enemies fly off in the air like Team Rocket when you land a killing blow is quite cathartic. ^_^
