My Impression On: Elfen Lied (Anime) (Spoiler Free)

I had the same déjà vu with Attack on Titan: the impression I heard this plot somewhere else but I could not recall from where (maybe because the themes in this anime have become a cliché over the time?). Anyway, the thing is that this is the very first time I had the need of having a background story for each character in any story I have ever watched, for the sake of development, because, although the concept of the plot is very intense, the progression was really forced the entire story.

What I liked
  • It was a story with no censorship. If you thought something was about to happened, it happened.
  • Those hearth touching moments were tear worthy.
  • The themes in this story are very clear and deep. I really liked that. Probably the most interesting thing in Elfen Lied.

What I disliked
  • I always saw the main character thorns as ears becuase of the way they were drawn.
  • Slow paced most of the time. Sometimes it felt a little boring.
  • The story progression was very forced. As if the writter tells you during the whole anime: "AND THIS HAPPENS, BECAUSE YES". No explanation, no justification, just "YOU GOT IT". *face smash*

All on all, I enjoyed it, in a very passive way. Is not an anime I got hooked inmediately and watched 3 episodes in a row. Or 10 in a row as I did with Death Note, Gantz, Attack on Titan. This anime is not so action or thought provoking oriented, is more like something you would watch a night right before sleep (because it helps you to do so), and that is the way I did watch it. I cried with that ending though. Thanks for the one who recommended it: G3nobee56.

My rating: 6/10
