I was looking through the archives for some of Dr Greust's various Azmeri children's books, and while perusing his classic "I Shat in your Hat", I noticed Greust had scribbled the following explanation of how portals work in the margin:



If a Duelist uses dual strike while he portals or F4s,
And the RNG is lousy like some twenty dolla whores,
And the desync with the waypoint has you bouncin' to and fro
Then the portal error sorter will never ever let you go!

If your ranger finds some danger and decides to portal out,
does the delay in the melee let the monsters move about,
or is the time flow in the blue glow a light speed overflow,
because the effects precede causes, when they make your ranger go?

If you open up that wormhole with a gem that never learns,
The ticker will go quicker, if you've got some scrolls to burn.
In an instant, you'll be distant, like a relative unknown,
You'll grow weary of the theories if you've died or you're a clone

With your Kaom's Roots corrupted from a vaal orb in the stash,
You'll be flying through that portal with a medal winning dash,
But the rebound will astound you, as your hard drive tries to cache,
so your travel time is normal, if you just stop to do the math.

There's no dying when your flying through the round trip ticket hole,
or you'd meander into standard, when your hardcore hit that door.
While it's risky to be casting while the blasting monsters roar,
The safe haven you'll be cravin, while you vendor stuff for orbs

Through foretelling and some asking, you will find a truth profound,
that your skellies don't get jelly when you "teleport" to town,
with some animated flasking , the portal's truth they will expound:
you are riding in the chelae of devourers underground.
