Simple question about CPU

Hello everybody,

I have a quite old computer that i have been using to play Path of Exile for the last two years; and i would like to know which CPU is the best to run this game (only game i play is PoE)

The choices are Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 & Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400

E8500 Dual Core Wolfdale
# of Cores 2
Frequency 3.16 GHz
L2 Cache 6 MB
FSB Speed 1333 MHz
FSB Parity No
Instruction Set 64-bit

Q8400 Quad Core Yorkfield
# of Cores 4
Frequency 2.66 GHz
L2 Cache 4 MB (2x2048 KB)
FSB Speed 1333 MHz
FSB Parity No
Instruction Set 64-bit

I currently own both processors so i wont be spending a single cent on this.

My current configuration is
Operating System Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits
Motherboard Intel DG41TY
Memory 8GB DDR2 PC2-6400 in Symetric Dual Channels
Video Card Sapphire Radeon HD5770 1GB Vapor-X PCI-X 16
HDD Western Digital WDC5000AAJS 500GB 7200RPM 8MB cache Sata 3Gb/s for Operating system
HDD Seagate ST31500341AS 1500GB 7200RPM 32MB cache Sata 3Gb/s for data and swap files x2
Soundcard Asus Xonar DS 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI
CPU Cooler Naster Hyper 48
PSU Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus Series 500W ATX12V V2.3 (RS500-PCARD3-US)

Doesn't POE only run Single-Core? I'd recommend the E8500 for the faster clock speed and bigger cache.

Grain of Salt: I am not a smart man, wait for someone with brains to answer.

Massive thanks to GGG for producing such a fun and engaging game, it has taken up faaaaaaar too much of my life over the last 5 years.

Best of luck in the future!

Perhaps sell/trade those two for a Core 2 Quad Q9650? I'd try them both and see.
higher clock on single cores i'd recommend
or u try to script it down using cpu1-3 on your quadcore at high affinity.
keep cpu0 clean for services and background application.

Quad core no doubt, had some bad experiences with dual core and PoE in terms of framedrops
