[1.3]Agnerod East Reloaded - cheap, effective Trapper with 71% Penetration

Pros/Cons

Pros:
- 5k+ life + 75/75 Dodge/Spell Dodge + Ondars
- cheap, can map effectively with a 4l
- party-friendly, shocks whole screens
- good pack-clearing
- reflect-immune

Cons:
- lightning damage range vs. trap limit
- chroming pure evasion gear can be a pain without Vorici
- limited single-target damage
- can't run all mapmods
- clearspeed not as high as broken builds like FB Prolif

Penetration vs. Curses

Quotes taken from the Path of Exile Wiki.

"
Penetration is a more powerful version of reduced resistances. In addition to lowering the target's resistance, it also reduces their maximum resistance by the same amount. Equivalently, penetration will always reduce the target's effective resistance by the given amount even if the target is over their resistance cap (after lowered resistance modifiers are applied).

This means, against overcapped enemies curses won't do anything, or only have little effect, while this build will always bring down enemies to atleast 4% Lightning Resistance.

"
Note that some monsters and maps have affixes that make them (or the monster inside of them, in the case of maps) immune to curses. Map bosses also have 60% reduced effect of curses on them, and Act Bosses 70%.

Gear

Agnerod East vs. Agnerod North
North will let you shock more often, while East will greatly help shocking higher HP targets.
Especially once you get a quality Arc, East is far superior.

Try getting a hybrid Ev/ES chest with 1k+ Evasion, Life and Resistances.
Best base would be a Sadist Garb.

Evasion > Life > Resistances

Evasion > Life > Resitances > Energy Shield

BiS boots for any Acro/Phase Acro build.

Play around with Tora's Trap- and Movement Speed mods.

Life > Mana Regeneration > Resistances > Mana/ES > Lightning Damage%
Some Strength on jewelry enables you to drop the +30 Strength nodes.

Taste of Hate is expensive, if you can't afford one, use a Jade Flask of Reflexes instead.

Gems
Arc - Trap - Multiple Traps - Light Pen / - Empower - Added Light Dmg
*Put these into Agnerod East

Bear Trap - Phys to Light - Light Pen - Added Light Dmg / - Empower - Inc Duration

Reduced Mana - Grace - Clarity - Herald of Thunder

Vaal Grace - Inc Duration / Lightning Warp - Reduced Duration
*look at Boots in Gear Section

Cast when Damage taken - Enduring Cry - Enfeeble - Arctic Armour
*Keep AA at whatever Lvl your Mana Regen can sustain.

Playstyle
It's very important to learn the trap limit and cooldowns of your traps. Curse enemies, throw Arc Traps into packs or Bear Traps for single enemies. If some traps didn't trigger, lure the enemy into them.

Use Vaal Grace while facing dangerous enemies, for minor stuff Taste of Hate/Jade Flasks will keep you safe.

This is a pure mapping build, Atziri is not possible due to the trap limits and lack of DoT like other popular trap builds (Fire Trap, PA Trap, Chin Sol Trap).

1.2 vs. 1.3 Comparison
I've played a slightly different version of this build in 1.2 and solo'd it to Lv93 easily.

The new, 1.3 version feels stronger on single target and overall more optimized, but the lack of a culling Arc reduces pack clearing slightly if your traps hit on the lower end of lightning damage range.

I would say, this version is clearly better in parties while the 1.2 version was more solo-oriented.

If you're looking for a fun, non-cookie cutter build, give it a try!
