Powerful Skills With Cooldowns?

Currently, most of the skills are attack as fast as you can or cast as fast as you can, with exceptions to some skills like flameblast and discharge where you have to build up charges or the area before releasing the attack.

As fun as that is, it would be nice to have to do something other than spam the same spell/attack over and over.

Is it possible to add skills that have like 2-10 second cool downs but do intense single target or aoe damage. That is kind of on par with vaal gems, but you only use those a couple times during a map. I was thinking these skills could be used every 2-10 seconds so our play styles have some variety.

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

They would be fucking worthless then at most it would have a 250 ms cd basic thing.

Well if normal attack is 50 damage. Then your 3 second cool down attack could be like 500 damage. Makes it worth casting. And this would be good for kiting and attacking on the run.

I'd rather see them come up with clever mechanics for skills to have this effect (flameblast and discharge being good examples) than just generic cooldowns. Long cooldowns feel clunky and forced in arpgs IMO.

There is still plenty of room for channeling skills to be explored though.

They are called potions and already exist in the game.

Because holding down the right mouse button while every monster on the screen melts and or explodes is innovative and inspiring combat. I don't unsterstand why everyone likes to pretend this is anything more than a click spam beat em up.

Damn your potions are on a cooldown? I can use mine as I please then have to take other actions to refill them.
