Items.. How to tell if value...
How do you tell if an item has value or not...

or rather how much an item is worth/what to look for to find something valuable other than 5/6l

It is not really possible to tell. Uniqs is easy, but rare can be very hard. I can share my general rule of thumb for armor and jewelry, 2 good mods = 1c, 3 good = 3-5c. But again all depends on mods and ability to craft good mod on it with master. 3 good mods a can also cost 10c or even 15c, if those mod r really high rolls and harmony with each other perfectly + open affix for good crafting. With 4 good mods it becomes way harder, price can range form 10c to several exalts.
To learn it, u need to search for similar items on poe.trade and approximate the value of ur item. Knowledge of many builds and what they need is very good. With time and effort u will learn it right, at the beginning u will often over value some time under value ur items. But u must leave with it, if u want tot trade ;) |

There's no website or anything that gives exampled and prefix/suffix guides ect? You'd think for a game this old now, there would be someone up for the challenge of in depth explination.

The wiki and this website both have a list of affixes. The better the affix, the more the item is worth. It's not so complicated that it would require a site of its own.
On chest items a high roll for: armor, evasion or energy shield is a priority. Chest items have huge potential with this. Where as a helm, boot or glove slot with a similarly high roll won't give as much. That said, ES items for any slot can be good items to roll increased ES on, for CI builds or if it also has life for a Shav build. Pretty much any item with a combination of at least three of these mods is good: Life - just about a must. Without this mod, worth drops dramatically except CI items. All elemental resist- fire, cold & lightning in one stat. Chaos resist- unless the item is for CI then - only then - it's a waste. Individual element resist. Gloves and jewelry can roll DPS mods. You'll want to get them as a priority on those slots but the life and resist mods should be considered just as important if not more. The desired DPS mods... Whatever floats your boat. Boots can roll run speed. You most likely want this but some builds don't care about it - most do. Increased shield block on a shield is always good shit. I'm sure I'm leaving plenty of things out. Maybe it is a little complicated. Either way, this list of priorities should get you started. Two last things to consider: the /itemlevel and the base of the item. If the base item is a normal or cruel drop, leave it unidentified as part of the 2xChaos recipe. If the ilvl is below 74 it can't roll the best mods but it could still be goodish just not something to be overly concerned about. T1 mods - the best life and resist and dps - are reserved for items with a high ilvl. Where there's one they're bound to divide it right in two.
