New Vendor Recipe for Map Item as Gem Sink

As oppose to map drop directly from Boss, I suggest that the boss or even some high level monster will drop some reagent where player can then use the reagent together with some gems to Map Item. The benefit of this would be:

i) Keep map drop as rare as it can be, but allow players to have an alternative to get them.

ii) Now high level player will start shopping for Gem again, thus help the economy by consuming the ever growing gems.

In summary, a new vendor recipe that takes in
- Map reagent / fragments drop from high level monster.
- Different color of gems for different type of map.

EDIT:
For those that are concern about the exploit of keep creating new character for the 2 free gems:-

It's a gem sink, meaning it should able to consume a large number of gems, therefore the 2 gems from each keep starting new character shouldn't matter much in the final formula, the map reagents are the key ingredients.

The idea is to help high level characters to have an easier time farming for map where map reagent has a higher drop rate than map and as a progressive method. Not like currently either you got one map or none. End of story. Not to mention you can trade for map reagent as well.

Prob not the best idea, u can produce 2 gems by starting a new char and running to the city in like 2 min.

You still need map reagent. The gem part is just to sink them.

I somewhat of a like this idea.

Different gems and different quality in gems could get you different parameters for the maps?

Yes, and I believe GGG would be the best in balancing out the type/quality of gems for the type of maps.

I like this idea.

About the 2 starting gems someone gets: If GGG just makes sure that you can't use skill gems from quest rewards (lets say all from default difficulty or at last from act 1) it shouldn't be a problem and people can't abuse it. :)
