But I guess everybody has already experienced this.
I wish I've read this somewhere.. and I would've known better. Would ALT+F4 saved me?

Nope, i had deaths like this for close to 2 years of play now...

any recommended toon to roll? This is just my 3rd character. 1st was a doomed facebreaker that can't afford a Lioneye's Remorse. 2nd was an SRS (not yet ripped), but just not my playstyle...

I am guessing you like melee chars? SRS is basically a caster spec. True minion build or totems offer quite a different playstyle. Back to melee, i would recomend dual wield cleave. I find cleave-ms one of the best 'quality of life' melee builds even if it doesn't hit the highest dps numbers. I didn't actually see what build you were playing on your duelist.

Yeah, I don't like pressing too much buttons. And I'm burned out buying a lot of stuff (there's relatively more stuff to setup on SRS than melee builds).

Here a complete list of what I've tried (up to late game) so far:
1. Standard Witch dual totem incinerate - bored.
2. Standard Reave Sword & Board - fun, but I got bored to last long enough to earn an Aegis.
3. Rampage ZiggyD Tornado Shot - totally bored (probably because it's not HC).
4. Beyond Facebreaker - I ripped @ 71 because I facetanked Merveil on that unique Ledge map. Died so sudden Noob move.
5. Beyond SRS - lvl 75. cast desecrate, cast FO, cast skele totem, cast x, cast y, cast zzzzzzz, and suddenly a flickering Beyond wielding a bad-ass big-sword (just like Cloud's) is in your face. That was on a 68 map with narrow rooms. Can't afford a CoD. Too scared to rip again. So I rerolled.
6. Beyond GS/GH - ripped before I achieved perma freeze :(, I had so much fun leveling up with Dual aurumvorax with MS (and cleave I think), so I agree with you said. Aurumvorax, underrated. And this (I wonder why this isn't popular).

So... is there any melee build that can run always-on-AA? Any build that I should try before I totally rip this game from my humble low end PC but has an SSD..?

Running AA with melee is a bit hard just because of the location of eldritch battery. Its certainly not impossible but i would lean towards the natural defenses that are in melee node area. Block, armor, endurance charges, MoM, ondars, acrobatics, iron reflexes, evasion. I think a wings of entrpy or sword/axe based dual wield cleave is a fairly easy to grear build that can take you through merc dom and mid 70 maps with very little investment. High maps will require strong defenses for melee especially in HC.

self cast incinerate is pretty much in melee range for shotgunning, fairly cheap to build, and tanky enough for HC. Played 3 to mid 80's in invasion, survived the original invasion bosses only to die to Vaal BA exile the day after they buffed exiles in that league.
