Chain + Pierce

Was wondering how both behave.
Can a single, original, projectile both chain & pierce ? Can chained projectiles pierce ? IGNs -> MaitresseRemi/Mamie_Machette/MainDroiteMainGauche

If X something pierces then it can not chain.
There's one exception which is tornado shot the start shot pierces but the after effect will chain. Dys an sohm

Then using chain & pierce (or chain & pierce nodes) is somewhat contradictory ? (disregarding eventual bonus from Drillneck)
