how do i lower the settings?

i'm currently playing on a real bad laptop, what do i have to change to get the best performance? i don't really understand some of the settings.
trilinear filtering, anti aliasing quality just to name a few. |

Most basic advice unfortunately is; don't play on a bad laptop/play on a better machine.
That aside, generally the options listed first are the lowest settings, so take these. The filtering option affects textures at certain angles. higher values improve quality. Anti aliasing removes the 'jagged edges' around all objects. For best performance; - make sure you play in fullscreen - use a low resolution - turn vsync off - set shadows to none - set anti aliasing to off - texture quality to medium - filtering to trilinear - post processing off if this does not help enough, I'm afraid there is not much more you can do, besides getting a new machine. |

For even more reduction in quality and therefore more speed, you can do all of the above, then edit your Config.ini POE file and set texture_quality=5 Yes the higher number is lower quality. You game will look like something from Toy Story but it will run faster. . |

You can also go into config.ini and set up a custom (lower) resolution too. I've got PoE running in glorious 640x480.
