Using weapon swap for summoners - Moar skillz!
Getting enough sockets and active skill hotkeys can be a challenge for summoners because there are quite a few good choices.
To better meet that challenge, I'm thinking of using weapon swap (ie: weapon + shield on weapon swap) to switch in skills that wouldn't be visible by default. For example, I might have desecrate, bone offering, Vaal haste / grace, ... on weapon swap because those powers wouldn't necessarily always be used. By default, a curse and flesh offering might occupy the same hotkeys as desecrate and bone offering. Thus, flesh offering and that curse would temporarily disappear from hotkey access after the weapon switch hotkey had been pressed once, and would reappear after the weapon switch hotkey had been pressed again. Good or bad idea? Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes?

Doesn't work for vaal skills. Gems won't charge if they are in weapon swap.
I'm not sure it will work for flesh/bone offering as maybe the boost will disappear. Doesn't work for curses/summons/auras either. Only thing I'm using it with is desecrate, to get corpses before a fight. It's good for that though, still saves some slots. And also swapping seems to take quite some time, kinda bad for stressfull situations. |
