Alright so this Checking Resources situation is crap.

Ok... SO! I finally got the game to patch and install today.
Been having issues with the Checking Resources thing for a week.
Played, got to lvl 7, became really interested in the game... really cool ideas here.
Leave. Go to girlfriends house. Come back 5 hours later. Try opening game... oh look!
CHECKING RESOURCES LOOP!
If this is a common thing, I totally understand why this game is free... people surely wouldn't pay with so much down time... /sigh.
