GGG employees have feelings too ?

this thread is aimed at THE staff members from GGG. they probably wont reply due to workload- but i would love it if they did. ere we go

SO every day the forums fill up with peoples frustrations/gripes/praise/ loathing/ etc etc.

i have always wondered how this makes the ggg team feel.

are you guys mad/ashamed/disheartened/emboldened/ etc etc

in a perfect forum world i would like each ggg team member to leave a small comment on how these negative forum posts make you feel, seeing as they are generally criticising the game you have so lovingly created.

one more thing ggg staff- please could each member of the team list 3 things they would like to change within game if they had the power/knowledge/ time/ to do.

this post is made with total respect for THE ggg team, BIG thanks for giving us all a free and totally addictive game to play.

look forward to your replies.

Hi Kurt,

As non-transcendent individuals I can confirm we have feelings like everyone else in the community. From the perspective of the support team, some of the content we moderate on we can certainly find amusing (but moderate none the less for a variety of reasons). We can get frustrated when something goes pear-shaped and nasty emails/posts/PM's get fired our way too. In these cases being objective / professional can be challenged, but working on this side of the GGG fence does provide some helpful perspective, and we try and communicate that where we can (remuneration and internal policies help with objectivity too).

Unfortunately it turns out this isn't the best day to try and catch GGG staff - many of us are outside of the office due to a conference*, but thanks for the positive comments, and I hope my reply helps.

I think when you are doing something that is going to be public, you need to be prepared for massive negativity that will fall.

Thinking positive with positive feedback (and considering fair, constructive criticism) is what you will eventually get used to. I think :-P

Doubt that GGG's team members can't sleep at night because someone said that "OMFG DAT ATZIRI EXPANSION SUCKS".

EDIT: ^ Confirmed info : D
Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance.
Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.

A really admire you guys from support. Having to read certain forum section(s), where 90% of the threads are hatefull arguments between spoiled childs and retards, has to be very painfull experience

I can confirm muscle ad guys product works. I can now bench 4billion pounds and look like a raging steroid freak..and in only 3 minutes using it. :)
I think they punish employees by having them watch the forums for the day. I also think GGG knows this is not the best place for feedback which is why they are more often found on Reddit. Hopefully at some point they get control back of their own forums but its probably not a priority. Complain all you want but they are sleeping in money pillows so they shouldn't feel too bad.

When you're working in customer support, you learn to think "fuck you" while remaining polite and collected. It's actually great for personal growth. The same applies to community management (which is often just glorified customer support), though it's not always easy not to turn into a cynic or an alcoholic. :) It can be disheartening when you try and try and try, and you only get ingratitude in return, but trying is all anyone can do.

What's really hard is face-to-face customer support, or even phone. E-Mail, forum, PM are all much easier in comparison, especially since you can see what you are responding with, before you do, so you can edit and delete portions before answering.

But yeah, since I'm familiar with the other side, I try not to vent frustration to GGG's customer support/forum staff. They have always been exceptionally helpful and communicative in all direct interactions I had with them, and I feel that they are doing a stellar job. They are also more personable than is common in many places.
