Help me kill a mech keyboard?

So I have a old black widow I'm planning on replacing the switches or as well as add a few LEDs.


Not too worried about the first part but wondering if the LEDs would work as the board didnt have backlighting in the first place.
The slots/mounts are there.

Would i need to change firmware wise?

Im guessing just any old LED that fits will do.
