Volume mixer and path issues

So, for the life of me, after researching the forums for hours, I can't control the sound of path from the volume mixer. I have it with -swa launch properties and all that did is made it show up in volume mixer. My problem before that was path didn't even show up. Now it is there, but even if I mute path through the volume mixer the sound in game doesn't change. This is horrible because I keep my pc sound max and adjust all programs around that and with path in game I have it on the lowest notch and its loud as hell. I use a Xonar DS sound card with updated drivers. I've had the problem pretty much forever, and it is now annoying enough to warrant a tech support post.

Have you tried controlling the volume through Path of Exile?
Does changing that affect the volume at all? Sounds to me like the issue is with how the volume mixer you are using works. That would be less of a Path of Exile issue and more of a Windows issue.... although I can see how you could think it is a Path of Exile problem if other things work correctly. dedicated sound cards tend to have some issues. Hopefully we can figure out what's going on and get you a resolution. It also might be worth posting a DxDiag.exe export ("Save all information" button) inside of a Spoiler tag so we can just take a gander at the hardware and driver information for the PC. | |

The sound slider in game does affect the sound but it goes from hellishly loud to loud forcing me to either re adjust all of my sound settings and then revert them all once I'm done playing path and it becomes a real hassle when I play multiple games everyday.

Not sure if it will help or not, but there are Newer Drivers on the ASUS site than the ones you have.
They're still REALLY old, but they are newer than what you have. Also, which "panel" are you using to adjust the audio from? Are you using the default windows sound panel, or are you using some external audio panel provided by your sound card software? | |

i use the default volume mixer. I updated the drivers and the volume mixer still does nothing to path's sound level.

Does your motherboard have on-board sound?
Would it be possible to pull the ASUS Xonar card out of the PC completely and attempt to test again without the card? That would verify if the issue is Xonar related or not. Since this problem doesn't come up in other situations, my guess is that it is likely specific to the Xonar hardware or drivers. | |

My on board sound card doesn't work. That's why i had to get a new sound card. I guess ill just have to put up with the issue. Thanks for your help though man. I appreciate it.

" Yeah... sorry I don't have a better answer for you. I know that PoE has issues with dedicated cards.. but I haven't really seen many cases of the kind you are describing. Usually the problem is related to Creative cards and causing crashing and BSoD. Your issue is a little different. Sorry I don't have any more suggestions. Perhaps more searching around google can illuminate a common problem among other games and perhaps offer a solution. I'll keep checking as well. Good luck.
