Thoroughly Impressed!

I just discovered this game today. I was led here by a post about alternatives to Diablo 3 at the official Blizzard forums. Not that I was looking for any. It just caught my eye.

Anyway, I just wanted to set up my own little tent here with a post of praise. Everything about this game looks promising. I have no doubt that the developers are huge Diablo fans themselves.

With this game I see the dark, gritty art style of Diablo 1 that really drew me in for hours of nighttime gaming combined with the welcomed complexities of customization from Diablo 2. I'm thoroughly impressed and eager for a holiday release for this game.

Perhaps, though, the most impressive aspect of this game has nothing to do with the art or the gameplay mechanics at all. If any of you are familiar with Team Fortress 2, the Free-To-Play model that this game is planning on using will be no stranger to you. By using micro-transactions that will have no gameplay impact, the developers of this game are taking a huge risk without having the benefit of an already established player-base that has shown it likes and wants cosmetic customization to the degree that Valve had before making TF2 F2P.

So, my hat's off to GGG. While companies like Valve have the luxury of the financial security to experiment with F2P models like this, you guys are going to be the real ambassadors! Here's one player who will definitely be reciprocating your doing right by me with some purchases. You've built it and we are coming. You'll support it and we'll support you.

Me too.
This looks great to me and exactly the kind of game atmosphere i will enjoy...that D3 has none of.
I hope it has depth of play and a large non linea world but the monsters look great and when i watch the video im not left feeling let down like the D3 instalments. Its like they went after the hardcore diablo fans or they are the hardcore diablo fans lol.Whats funny is it looks like your creating the game the D3 developers couldnt creat.Sorry to keep throwing the D3 game about.Big up PoE.
Same here.
I also got an recomendation for PoE on a german D3 Forum.
An I'm also realy impressed.
I hope the anounced Beta runs good, so that the game will come to life soon.

This game looks great!
Game looks really cool. I hope i get the beta!
Hi there,

Game looks very promising, i'm also really impressed by the non-pay to win approach. i am so tired of these micro transaction games which allow you to buy your way to the top. it's nothing but a big money grab by those companies. well done for not following the same route and delivering a game for gamers, instead of a game in the name of GREED :)
Also found out about the game on gamespot forums and its amazing, although dont know whether D3 is better or worse but this game impresed me and there arent many games that do. Thumbs up and if you play the game, also support the devs by spending on the game, the money that you were about to spend on that beer can help the devs to continue making fine pieces of art like this.

By using micro-transactions that will have no gameplay impact,

Huh? Team Fortress 2 directly sells guns and sets that provide statistical bonuses.
Interesting that you mentioned D1 as an art style similarity and not D2, I actually agree with you. Most on this forum seem to point to D2, but this feels more like D1 to me :).
