Dex Melee ranger vs Strength Marauder

So I have been playing PoE for a good while now, I have had 3 different runs on the idea of an agility (dex) melee character.

The evolution of this character type is rather unimportant, but where I have landed now is a shield and sword build that uses evasion, dodging, and a shield.

What I have found so far is making an agility tank is a grossly underpowered tank compared to a marauder for one simple reason.

Health.

Despite my ability to avoid damage very easily, what damage I do take is usually enough to end my fight and put me into ground.

I will go into more specifics of my character at a later post, but essentially even if I stack health nodes very heavily I will still be a "b" class tank and be nearly useless in real boss fights due to being 1 shot.

Not sure if GGG is aware of how bad dex based tanks are, but to be honest it will be difficult for me to even get over 1500 hp after all is said and done by lvl 60.

Accuracy means nothing compared to getting health from strength when it comes to melee. Yes dex will reduce my chance of taking damage, but on damage that can't be avoided (spell damage) I am still easily killed regardless of resists (due to low health pool).

Dex needs something to make tanking a little more viable, I would like to see something like dex doing something more for defense, and maybe even evasion also working on spell effects.

Other dex tanks who are trying to make a build work, please share your experiences!
Ive been thinking of building a 2h sword ranger and seeing how far I could get in hardcore. I would probably do full dex, evasion armor with iron reflexes to get dmg mitigation instead of dodging. I would focus on lightning strike + fork or something for aoe, and something like cleave + knockback for sticky situations so melee mobs don't zerg me. Dunno how well it would work though.
That was the second version I built.

It did not have enough hp to perform maps well with good gear.
