Timer not starting

I've just encountered a bug where during Vorici's mission "Assasinate the target within the time limit" the timer wouldn't start.
I was trying to kill exile's guards and nearby monsters before taking him on but in the process I also reached him with my EK (at least I think that was the case, cannot be sure about it). When he got close to me, the timer was still off. It wasn't until I came closer to the point where the exile had initially beed standing that the time finally started ticking.
