quick question about crafting with the Masters

Hello,
i still can't try it, because my masters are lvl4-5 only atm, but i would like to know what will happen if i have 5s5L armour/weapon and craft with a Master 6 sockets on it?
1) i'll lose my 5L, but i'll have 6 sockets
2) i'll keep my 5L and i'll have additional 6th socket on the gear?
btw i already crafted 6 sockets without the masters with few jews, but in this case if 2) is correct it'll worth and will be very useful for many players who need +1 socket for portal gem or arctic armour etc and don't want to change their other attacking/defensive combinations:)

A good, and cheap way to test this is to make a few 3L gloves and boots, and see what happens when you upgrade them to a 4 socketed item. Sadly I don't know the answer to the question myself, but it is a very interesting idea, and I would certainly love to take a few of my 5S5L's and make them have 6 sockets.

If anyone plans on testing with the 3L's then please do share your results.
