Connection failure: can't download Path of Exile
|
Hi.
Here's my problem: I cant download the client. I get the 'connection failure' error every time; first I was stuck at some 'scrape_02.ogg' file, then I have uninstalled old PoE and tried downloading it from scratch; now I am always stuck at 'lightningtrapexplode.amd'. Connection failure Error: Failure when receiving data from the peer to peer while downloading http://patch101.pathofexile.com:8095/patch/1.2.0.1/art/models/effects/traps/lightning_trap/explode/lightningtrapexplode.amd UPD: I was wrong, now I am stuck at 'scrape_01.ogg' Last edited by Shudoyama#4156 on Aug 21, 2014, 4:01:53 AM

Hey Shudoyama,
Are you trying to update through the Standalone Client or the Steam Client? Have you managed to play Path of Exile before? If you select the 'launch' button again are you stuck at the same 'scrape_01.off' file or does it change? Do you have any Firewall/Antivirus/Security programs that may be interfering with Path of Exile's connectivity? You may need to check these and allow exceptions for Path of Exile. Need Support? support@grindinggear.com.

I use a standalone client, and yes, I was playing PoE just the day before. File name does indeed change. I have disabled my antivirus as well; it didn't help.

I don't mean this to sound patronizing, but it seems you're having a connection issue... otherwise it wouldn't have so many connection errors popping up while attempting to download.
Could be something associated with your local PC, or could be an internet/ISP issue. It's hard to say for sure without more testing and more data. Are you using a hard-wired connection to your modem/router? If not, try that. If your modem and router are separate, try connecting straight to the modem and eliminate the router as the problem. If it's still not working, reboot your network equipment (including your PC) and then try again. Make sure you're launching Path of Exile as admin by right-clicking on it and selecting "Run as Administrator". Finally, if nothing still appears to be working, you can try 2 last things. 1) set your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which is Google DNS and it might change your patching server location. 2) connect to a VPN and try patching while connected there and see if it could possibly route around the issue. Instructions for setting up and using a free VPN service can be found linked in the Consolidated Technical sticky post. Good luck. |

My connection is absolutely fine. I have checked it. A good and stable cable connection.
Furthermore, it seems I am always stuck at .ogg files (sounds). Kinda rules my connection problems out, I think Last edited by Shudoyama#4156 on Aug 21, 2014, 12:31:08 PM

" Nothing rules out connection issues when there is no issue for the vast majority of people. If there were issues with the patching servers, there would be a LOT more people complaining about the same issue you are reporting. Also, there is no way you can "check your connection" and ensure that it is stable as the way the internet works doesn't allow that. A single connection to one server somewhere means your connection to THAT destination is good, but it makes NO guarantees about connections to other places. Think of it like this... What if we change the analogy slightly and say that the packets are your car, and that PoE servers are the grocery store. Now... you just told me that you have checked and all the roads to the library are fine... but that doesn't say ANYTHING about the roads to the grocery store except the point up to where the roads diverge... sure you take the same route out of your house and neighborhood possibly... but at some point along the route, you take a different turn and end up on a completely different road to go to the grocery store than you use to go to the library. So my point is that you have a connection issue between you and GGG... doesn't mean it is your driveway that is the problem, or even a neighborhood road... but somewhere, one of those roads either has traffic, or road construction, or something going on that is causing you issues getting to your destination..... either that, or you have something on your PC preventing the proper download/save of the data. Either way, you need to try the other things I suggested in my post and see if any of them solve the issue. You didn't many comments to ANY of the things I suggested other than saying your "connection is fine", which I just proved is not valid at all. So let us know the results of all the other tests. |

Hmmm, I see. The problem was on my side, please disregard that. My GF's trick. ^^
