Druid/Nature spells: Shapeshifting and "Earth"-based attack spells
I'll be honest, I really liked the Druid in Diablo 2. Now I'm going to stop talking about Diablo 2.
I realize it would be a lot of work, and it's in no way necessary, but I'd honestly enjoy it if they added in a number of "nature" spells. Let me break it down: Transformations The character shapeshifts into a creature with special abilities. This could be implemented a couple of different ways: A)Toggled Transformation:You transform into an animal or creature in a toggle-able manner with a special attack set, but without access to your normal skills and with a number of restrictions. You could turn into a cave beast- high damage, slow attacks, slow movement speed, high health. Maybe you could turn into a wolf- high movement speed, high damage, low health, easily stunned, etc. These could be toggled on and off like an aura, but have three or four second long casting times, or maybe you would cast it and have fun until you lose duration. B)Creature Channeling: Instead of it being toggled on or off, or occurring for a long period of time, "creature channeling" would have the character transform into a creature for the duration of a single, special attack. "Channel Rhoa" would have the player shapeshift into a rhoa to charge forward into a crowd of enemies, dealing physical damage and knocking them away like bowling pins, after which the player returns to his human state. Earth Spells: Physical Damage Earth/Nature based spells would manipulate the environment (regardless of what that environment may be) and nature in order for the player to attack his enemies and protect himself. Earth spells that deal damage directly always deal physical damage, but mostly focus on debuffing enemies. They are, in essence, a cross between strength skills and magic spells. Quake: Area of Effect, Duration- The player begins shaking the earth within the spell's area of affect, disorienting enemies and causing them to lose their balance. Enemies effected by quake have greatly reduced movement speed (maybe 15-20% to start?), 35% reduced stun threshold, and 35% reduced chance to hit (just throwing a number out there- could be more, could be less, just whatever's balanced) for the duration of the spell. Used in a similar manner to flameblast, except it casts faster and the increasing stages only affect the AoE. Eruption: Area of Effect- the player causes the ground to explode beneath the feet of an enemy, dealing high physical damage to the target with a 60% knockdown chance and raining debris down upon nearby enemies, dealing physical damage. Catapult: The player uses magic to rip a large boulder from the earth and flings it at an enemy/group of enemies. High cast time, and due to its imprecise nature, has a 30% chance of missing. Deals high physical damage and medium chance of stunning enemies. Titan: Aura, area of effect- The player activates an aura that causes his movement to shake the earth (think of something very large running, causing the earth to rumble with each step). Enemies in front of the player have a 30% base chance to flee; enemies caught within the radius of the aura have 30% reduced stun threshold. The following spells I'm very much unsure of: Tarpit: Area of Effect, duration- The player floods an area with summoned tar. Tar slows down enemies and has a 10% base chance of being ignited, dealing (reduced) burning damage to enemies. Enemies who deal fire damage through spells or dying (hellion wolves or whatever) have a 20% chance of igniting it themselves. Swamp: Area of effect, duration- The player creates a pool of water beneath the feet of enemies in the area of effect, slowing their movement and reducing fire damage from enemies. Enemies who deal cold and/or lightning damage in the pool of water have a chance of shocking or freezing themselves; the pool itself has a 10% chance of being shocked or frozen, affecting everyone inside of it. Anyways, just some ideas. No clue about how useful they'd be, or if they're completely stupid overpowered. Last edited by Pyroninja42#0249 on Aug 1, 2014, 2:50:48 PM
