Does negative resistances increase damage taken?

I cannot find any info regarding wether negative resistances actually increase damage taken or not, is there a difference in damage taken between having -60% -5% or 0% resistance? Is it worth increasing for example chaos resistance even though it won't reach positive numbers?

Yea they do

negative resistance is a multiplier in damage taken. damage type *[1 -res%], remember negative minus negative is positive. foes can have negative resistances too but that requires some work.
