Can't go to Act 3 after Vall dead

Greetings,

I saw some similar posts about crashes, but my issue is different.
Died while trying to solo after I used quest item to activate portal.

I go back with a party and we kill him, but I can NOT use the portal out. It says I need to have killed Vaal (which I did) or need to activate portal with the Apex (which I did).

Any suggestions?


EDIT: I finally resolved issue. I just had to solo him again. I didn't need the Apex item this time (and i didn't have one anymore). Still, i was able to activate portal, kill Vaal and then exit to Sarn.

I had the same issue, and moving the Apex item to a new position within the inventory fixed it for me. Might be worth a shot.

I have similar issue

So I killed Vaal while in a party with a friend. He was in town when I killed Vaal.

Now, I can't get to act 3 because it says I need the APEX, but I don't have it anymore, and my quest has reset to "kill the tribe leaders" quest.

However, when I go to kill them, they don't drop the quest items and I can't get to act 3.

Tried to rekill Vaal in party with no luck.

Tnis also happened to me, only I was playing solo. Killed Vaal with freezing pulse and ice spear totem. Downed him, walked straight to the act 3 door. Was told I needed the apex placed on the altar to proceed. Tried portaling back to town and back again, with the same result. Will try to run through pyramid again once servers are back, but I suspect I will be unable to even summon Vaal.

Update: Was able to summon and re-kill Vaal Oversoul, this time I received a quest complete and was able to continue to act 3.
