Difference between 1h weapon types?
Hey everyone, just curious as to what the main difference between swords, axes, fist weapons, and the rest of the 1h weapons are (if any). The skill tree seems to have a good big of benefits from specializing, and just curious as to which to use and why.

ok i'll go over the basics of the weapons, though I know some passives do give certain weapons an extra effect to them, but not sure about all of them so i'll just say the weapons themselves. also the 1 handed and 2 handed versions all share the same specialty
Axes - the most basic brute force weapon you'll find. has no specialties, but it has the highest damage of it's level range. swiping swords - has 18% increased accuracy to help make sure your attacks lands, and in the passives they will have additonal attribute to reduce block chances. Rapiers - these are swords that have a Crit damage multiplier, this is also a global stat so it will improve crit damage on both weapon and spells. maces - when these weapons do damage, they will reduce the enemy's threshold for stuns making it easier for you to stun them. Scepters - these are maces that have increased elemental damage. Daggers - these will always have a crit chance multiplier that is global, so again these will apply to all spells and attacks. these weapons also have a slightly higher base crit chance, but lower than a wand Claws - these will either have life leech or life on hit on them depending on the claw type. these also have a higher base crit chance, but lower than a wand. Wands - these will always have increased spell damage but low physical damage, but to make up for that, they've also increased their base crit chance, making these weapons somewhat better for a crit chance build. Staffs - always 2 handed and the only 2 handed weapon that can have a block chance and the last weapon type, bows - they have weaker damage than their 2 handed weapon counter parts, but are given a ranged attack, also allowing to use ranged skills. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/120959 My guides Last edited by DarkenDragon#4195 on Feb 2, 2013, 7:13:05 PM
