when is empower worth using?

I just vaal'd a tabulas into +1 and my empower is about to level to 2.
Currently I use the tabs for my zombies with Zombie/rarity/minion hp/melee damage/melee splash/multi strike. All gems except minion hp are level 20. I swapped the minion hp for empower (+1'd from tabs) but overall they lost hp. Idk about the damage changes, but the hp difference was quite a bit. Idk if another lvl from empower would make a huge difference. Would it be better to drop a different gem for empower? http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1000307

A lot more stats increase with level, the most significant one being damage. It's very powerful in that regard.

simply put: it's awesome...
i use with and (upper left corner) don't mind the gem links. lvl 25 zombies, they never die (they are snapshotted like crazy, tho). not in 78 maps, not ever (not counting detonate dead boxes). rz + melee splash + multistrike + empower + melee phys dmg + remote mine for 4 montregul zombies and another 4 chober chaber zombies with culling strike and iir instead of melee phys and remote mine. according to some spreadsheet 150k dps and they have around 11k life (can't check right now) edit: don't forget, that it raises the lvl of all the linked gems. the dmg increase is crazy Last edited by horstkaracho#7015 on Jun 13, 2014, 1:49:27 PM

I like using it on Searing Bond + Increased burning damage + Empower on a + gems and/or +fire gems item.

" no you're right. it should have said that the +1 tab raises the lvl of all the support gems. no my empower is lvl 3, but the tab increases its lvl by 1, making it effectively lvl 4 for a +3 lvl increase of linked active skills. So lvl 21 rz + 1 (tab) + 3 (empower) = lvl 25 zombies. if you had a lvl 4 empower you could summon lvl 26 zombies (21+1+4). edit: look at the life increase for lvl 25 zombies compared to lvl 21. that along with the dmg increase and the additional armor (double!) makes empower + corrupted tab the single most useful gem + item combo for your zombies. ofc it will be nerfed to the ground soon :D Last edited by horstkaracho#7015 on Jun 15, 2014, 1:41:27 AM
