How does Frenzy exactly works?

Hello, quite new here and want to understand how the frenzy charge work. I know that each frenzy charge gives you and increase in speed and damage but my question is: I have the green balls rolling around me (frenzy charges) now should I keep attacking using frenzy charge spell or do i get the improved speed/damage just by doing a normal attack(so that i don't spend mana)?
Frenzy is an attack, and yes, if it is your only way to produce frenzy charges, then you have to keep using it. Of course, there are a number of ways to produce frenzy charges... though I'll just leave it up to you to find them all out.
Better stay in the land of the damned, Exile. Here, even the very words are corrupted by Nightmare.

That has absolutely nothing to do with what the OP was saying/asking.

The answer to your question isn't straightforward and depends on a lot of things.

1. Is frenzy your main attack? If it is it's likely you have a lot of support gems linked to the skill. It's very common for players to use frenzy as their single target attack. In which case you get full frenzy charges from the skill and you keep using it to deal more damage.

2. If frenzy isn't your main skill or your AOE clearing skill is something that benefits from frenzy charges, you use frenzy to get full frenzy charges and then use that skill, and try to maintain the same amount of frenzy charges for the duration of your attacks by occasionally using frenzy again.

You can always get the best of both worlds.
Frenzy gets additional attack speed and damage bonuses per charge, so if you got a lot of charges you might as well continue using it, it's a decent single target attack. Can be mana-intensive, though.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Yes Frenzy is my main attack but i don't like the fact that i always have to spend mana for it but.....yeah I understand that because you link a lot of gems to the Frenzy gem you should always use it as your main attack. Thanks for the answer

Frenzy Charges by default grant 5% Increased Attack and Cast Speed a piece. This applies to any Skill you activate while they are active.

The Skill Frenzy gains additional Attack Speed and Physical Damage per Frenzy Charge you have, on top of the natural 5% IAS. This extra IAS/Damage does not transfer to other Skills you use.

Never knew Frenzy attack gave extra damage with charges,I assumed you just got speed, interesting thanks for that bit of info (even if it was for OP).
You only have to generate one charge before the rest expire to reset the timer on all of them. So if you have the base duration (you can get two +18% frenzy charge duration nodes in the tree), you'll only have to use the frenzy skill once every 10 seconds or so (gets up to about 14 seconds if you took those nodes). The other 9 seconds you can use whatever skill you want and your bonus attack and cast speed will apply.

If you're playing a duel wielder, I suggest you use dual strike as your main attack in lieu of frenzy until you've got at least 2k hp. Then frenzy-blood magic-multistrike-melee physical damage with Blood Dance boots becomes pretty good.

Frenzy benefits the most from frenzy charges; as mentioned above it gets extra bonuses for them. 20 quality frenzy gets an additional 7% atk speed per charge on top of what the gem and charges would normally give. iirc, I'm at ~8 attacks per second at lvl 65.

There are only three ways to get frenzy charges.

1. Frenzy

2. Blood Rage

3. Terminus Est
