[Specific] Intel HD instead of Geforce 740m
|
Hi,
I have an Asus N76V running Windows 8.1. It has the default Intel HD graphics and an Nvidia Geforce 740m. I have changed all settings in the Nvidia control panel to use the 740m, but PoE still only shows (and uses) the integrated graphics. Even running the game specifically choosing to use the 740m (RMB > execute with > powerful nvida processor) it still doesn't. I think this problem is either specific to my laptop (motherboard) or Windows 8.1 Is there anyone who has an idea of what might be happening? Thanks! |

You need to check something like HWMonitor and look at the GPU utilization while playing Path of Exile. PoE will often times SHOW it is using the integrated card, when in fact the utilization will clearly show it using the dedicated card.
So give that a shot and see if it changes anything. If not, check the thread linked in the Consolidated Technical sticky post about "not detecting dedicated card". |

Before starting PoE:

do you have a program installed which can show LOAD on the GPU? Not sure if that is something that is shown in Nvidia Inspector or not.
That's what you want to be checking though. You want to be checking the utilization/load on the card while running. If it's showing a larger load with PoE open that isn't showing when PoE is NOT running, then you'll know that PoE is using the correct card. |

Sorry for not replying sooner.
I just checked, GPU usage with PoE is around 60%, without it it's 0. So it's using the GPU, but instead of maxing out the GPU usage it's having worse performance than it should be having.. |

you are playing with it plugged in, right? I have a similar notebook and it runs pretty fine with everything maxed
