I'm confused cruel is hardcore or?

Or is hardcore the league you get after finishing merciless cause this doesn't explain a lot.

Hardcore is either "hardcore" or "invasion".
You can choose which league you want to play in on creating a character.

If you started in standard, you´ll stay in standard (non-hc).. if you started in hc or invasion and die, your char will be transferred to the accoring non-hc league.

Ah screw me... so what are the benefits of playin in HC ?

So if I get through the standard mode all lvl's that's it. Game over? I have to make new character and collect stuff all over again?

If I buy stash tabs it's only for the standard then?

There are 2 default leagues present forever:

Standard -> The normal game. If you die, you get an EXP penalty.
Hardcore -> The normal game. If you die, your character is moved to Standard.


Then there are always at least 2 "new leagues" with experimental rulesets. As of today:

Ambush -> Magic lockboxes are spread throughout the game. You can unlock them for nice loot but you need to fight the monsters getting out of them first. If you die, you get an EXP penalty.

Invasion -> Random mobs and Invasion bosses from allover the game make an appearance in your instance. This is intended to burst your anus on several occasions. If you die, your character is moved to Standard.


If the new league ends after running for 4 months, Ambush characters get moved to Standard including the Ambush Stash and alive Invasion characters get moved to HC including the Invasion Stash. The Stash of the respective league will be added to their parent league as "Remove-only" Stash Tabs so you can sort in your items no problem. After maybe a week a new set of challenge leagues will start.

If you buy Stash Tabs, the amount you buy will be available to you in every league.

So in other words... I'm in ambush and I can't get into hardcore with this character... great.

No, not exactly.

If this is you first character, I highly recommend you not playing Hardcore as your first league - due to randomly desyncs and cockiness it can be very frustrating when you die with a high level character in harcore league. Even some of the gods among us exiles die - Helman or ColbyCheese, for instance.

You should be totally fine playing on Ambush with your first character, learning and understanding the mechanics, rules and overall gameplay.

Another question in cruel you get a - resistance venality if you die. This is forever throughout the whole cruel campaign or just temp?

You understood it wrong.

When you start on Cruel Difficulty;
You get -20 resistance penalty and is permanent. (not related to death)

When you die playing on Cruel Difficulty;
You lose %5 of your experience for current level. (you can't delevel though)

i see thats why i have -8% chaos. =)
