Does fire penetration support gem help righteous fire?

Does fire penetration support gem help righteous fire?

IE Will Righteous fire do more damage when its supported by Fire Penetration support gem?
It wont do more fire damage, well not directly. It will make mobs take more fire damage though.

Assuming they have any fire resist.

Or wait... if they have zero, fire penetration support will take their resist negative?

Quality should also add damage, but this thread is in the wrong forums.

I'm not sure, but I *know* that if you get flammability or Elemental Weakness on you, your resistances will go negative.

monsters =/= players

tbh i don't know either, i would assume they could turn negative, but it remains an assumption.

I don't think monsters and players are that different, mechanically speaking at least.
Now, it's true that many of the powers the monsters use are way more powerful than the version the player can get, to make up for the lack of support gems and the fact that the monster usually only has the one skill.

So if Elemental Weakness/flammability/frostbite/conductivity cast on you (by a mob or a map mod) can make your resistances negative, then it stands to reason that the same spells cast by the player can have the same effect.

No.

Penetration requires a hit to work.

But the quality should in fact work right? since it's %fire increase.
