In what way is ES > Life?

can someone elaborate in what situation, a witch with a strong ES Build would be better in hc than Marauder with high life/life regen
Well its kind the same thing. HP and ES while being different values Es with Some keystones can serve the same function as HP does for the Maurauder with regen life leach. Hope this helped. :)

I played a ES build on HC and struggled so much. Turn all your ES into mana and build on health. (The passive called eldritch battery).
Poison and any other form of puncture and easily get passed your ES and attack your health.

Imo ES sucks. Really it's not worth your time, unless you are doing well. But HP is the way to go, all you gotta do is keep your defence high and you'll be better than a player with ES.

It recharges a lot faster, especially if you aren't attacking anything. Personally I use ES+Minions+chill as my defense. The ES is just there to keep my health up while I summon stuff and against most things I can easily replenish it while kiting.

Also keep in mind HC is an alternate play mode and I would hope they never balance the game around it. I think that is a pretty key part of any discussion on balance.

Thank you that's what I thought. Witches are broken.

Well as a ES player you have to stack on defense to since ES becomes your life pool damage calculation is done to that it does not offer adition protection elemental or physical. Thats why IMO ES builds are harder.

In CB, there were strong reasons to go CI/ES
Right now, there is maybe only one reason and it's rather weak (Blood Rage).
If you have made a ES/CI character on HC and done poorly PLEASE, PLEASE PM Qarl or Mark with feedback specifically about your character. They need to hear about that sort of thing.

Definitely not better. But still seems viable. I kind of think that CI should've had a middle ground. Maybe 10-20% ES (basically enough to make up for lost HP). I can only imagine if it had 50% since I didn't use CI in the CB (my last high level character was a power charge/nova witch when power charge could be gained by critting even without the unique armor and nova was silly)
Mostly Path of Exile:

Level 67 Witch
Double curse, double totem, ice spear
If they didn't destroy ES gear. CI would've still been viable. As it stands. I wouldn't touch that keystone with a ten foot pole.
The main benefit is you're immune to stun and maybe stuff like frozen or shock (not sure about that though).

ES also benefits from the damage reduction from armor and ele resists.
