Sustaining 5/6 link skills with mana

So the other day i finally 5 linked my infernal mantle and was overjoyed, however i forgot to calculate in the additional mana cost that 5 link is adding.

So before the 5th link i had a mana consumption of 120 mana/sec, with the new support it skyrockets to 170 mana/sec.

I do not see how is this much mana regen achiveable without me almost doubling my mana pool from 2k to 4k.

Any suggestions?

from my experience you have two options: invest more into mana (however this has to be planned for at the beginning) or replace support with highest multiplier with something less costly

mana management has 4 aspects:
- flat mana (also from INT)
- mana %
- reduced mana cost
- mana regen

youll get MUCH better results if you use all of these than if speccing heavily into one

Tree summed up:
Mana increase: 24%
Mana regeneration boost: 100%
15% reduced mana cost of skills
+513.5 mana (including level and flat int bonus, not including int % bonus)

Thinking of maybe getting rainbowstrides to boost my mana further but by my calculation it won't help me reach 170 mana/sec, not even close.
Maybe if i swapped the helm for a high ES one but i am not that fond of giving up my helm (it has 113 hp boost)

For now i will swap out the added chaos damage (which is sad since it was a 28% more damage multiplier to my incinerate) and run Increased Item Rarity until i roll another linked red socket for Empower later.

My new lvl 73 Invasion Witch (-> crappy gear) has 224 mana regen with 2.6k mana.

- level 17 Clarity, no aura effect
- 120% mana regen from tree
- 112% mana regen from gear

None of this is very hard to get. I suspect you have low mana regen% since your mana pool is high enough.

Edit: ok now I see the difference is you don't have a high level Clarity. If you manage to fit a leveled one onto your mana pool it will solve your regen problems with your current mana regen%.

I cannot use a level 17 clarity, after reserving mana for auras im left with 840 mana.
Going below 700 mana puts me at low mana status, resulting in 100% increased spell damage taken.

My total mana regen with items goes above 200%.

Maybe i could make it if i took the reduced mana cost for auras near my tree.
I can put clarity on reduced mana also (since in my linked gear it is not atm) but that won't help that much.

Atm i reach low mana status after channeling incinerate for 2 seconds. If i could push the regen to 150/160 i think i could channel it a lot longer without the risk of low mana.

Welcome to the garbage designed mana system.

Eldritch battery or Blood magic gem or pick a skill that uses nearly 0 mana(detonate dead), enjoy.

I'd honestly just drop Vitality in favor of Clarity temporarily if I were you. You can pick up the regen nodes at Scion start if you really think you need so much on top of Life Leech (in case you're running Righteous Fire in an off weapon or something).

Yes im running RF in offhand to save on links.
Without vita im constantly losing hp in maps due to RF burn, and maybe it would be better going for the 20% reduced mana cost / more mana in nodes?

Or reduce mana cost of auras further with aura nodes?

I don't really like sacrificing my defensive stats for more offense atm. But it's a worthy idea.
