Chaos inoculation and poison damage

Hey everyone I was thinking of doing a partial respec of my witch and taking chaos inoculation/ghost reaver, but I am concerned about poison damage. Am I right in assuming that any poison damage will kill me instantly? If so there is no way i am going to take this skill. Thanks in advance.

" 'Poison' damage in this game is chaos damage. If you take Chaos Inoculation, you are completely immune to all forms of chaos damage. Non-chaos damage (including DOTs such as Puncture and burning) will affect you, but they hit the shield first. So the only way monsters can kill you is if they take your shield down.
