Best Driver for HD 4890?

I'm running Catalyst 13.9, but I'm not sure that's appropriate for an older card like mine. Beyond the typical low framerate issues associated with AMD/ATI cards and PoE, I have frequent checkerboarding and black display occurrences. Often this is resolved by Alt+Tab to desktop then Alt+Tab back to PoE. But, recently these have turned into complete crashes requiring restart. Thanks for any suggestions you can give. It seems to be getting more difficult to play this game, which I have enjoyed.

" I use to use this graphics card in my older PC, I found the 12.4 and 12.10 drivers performed the best. Of course, all setups are different, so you might not get the same results that I did. |

While i'm not using the exact same graphics card and configuration, it's somewhat similar.

I'm afraid I can't help here much. I have an NVIDIA GeForce card and I'm not familiar with others.
The link I posted above allows you to enter your system information, card and operating system to give you a list of the latest AMD Radeon drivers. This includes the HD 4xxx and HD 5xxx series, both desktop and mobile. It also looks like, on the same page, you can search for the latest AMD Catalyst drivers. Good luck! Thanks for the replies.
The 13.9 drivers I am currently using are as recommended by AMD's website (the link posted above). I hesitate to go all the way back to my oldest drivers, but it seems that has worked for a couple of you. Will post back with my results. ...maybe it's just time to give up my old hardware and upgrade... |
