Does hardcore mode change anything?

No.

Just a way to see who hasn't died.

I highly recommend everyone plays hardcore. It's far more interesting. Otherwise you are just grinding with no point. Hardcore makes it more into a game. Dude dies? You learn from it and become a better player. Personally I don't get bored of creating new characters. I don't want to grind the same character for months.

I imagine its similar to the difference between softcore and hardcore in Diablo. The economy is probably much more different in hardcore (for the better).

Sure it does...every time the server crashes, you get to restart your character! ^_^

The server crashed many times for my hardcore character and I'm still alive and well.

but I feel like you should play softcore once, all 3 act before you proceed to HC..

I mean, question like how do I link socket is pretty silly in HC

I'm actually considering converting to Default. I do not have much time, and Default can give me a great fix with a little grinding without being afraid of dying.
