Corrupted Item: What it does.

Gonna shoot a guess before they announce it.

Theory A: I imagine what with everyone complaining about legacy items, GGG learned their lesson. And so they implemented corrupted items, which I theorize expire after the current league is up; thus they can feel free to add whatever crazy ass bonuses the items might have without worrying about what happens later.

Theory B: They vendor for pieces of the new currency item to be introduced, as they mentioned sacrifice in the opening announcement.

Sounds like a decent guess. I feel like the corrupted keyword will probably do a little more, otherwise it wouldn't really balance out the things that we've seen that have corrupted on them. I'm thinking some sort of negative affect for carrying them, or maybe can't be vendored/stashed similar to cursed items from older rpg's?
It just seemed like a good way to keep legacy items in check so they can test out whatever mods they like without repercussions.

I had a similar guess, well more precisely my instinct tells me it's a form of item degradation in anticipation of the new trade systems but we'll see. Also it might represent how you get it, or maybe a new crafting mechanic that's in play... Ok, idk but I'm excited to find out lol.
Haven't been this excited for a game since the old Diablo 2 days, before blizzard got lazy and greedy.
