Upgrading Unique Items

Hi all :)
Can Unique items be upgraded? I got the short bow unique but it's DMG output is really low compared to my current damage from my magical bow :( |

If the unique you are wearing has a range of stats (ie facebreaker's unarmed damge bonus rolls between 800 and 1000), you can use a divine orb to reroll the range and hope you get a perfect roll.
If the unique you are wearing doesn't have a range of stats you can roll, you can only scrap/whetstone it up. Uniques are meant to be powerful in specific ways, so you can't upgrade their power to beat out a really good rare drop. My Keystone Ideas: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/744282

The best way to use quill rain is as an elemental damage output weapon. You need gear that gives added elemental damage effects, and combine those together. Add a build that thrives on +% elemental/fire/cold/lightning damage, and you have a lot of damage output going on at once.
And believe me, this used to be one of the most powerful builds ever made, before they actually nerfed quill rain. Though that said, its perfectly possible that Death's Harp might become a better candidate if you collect gear with +% attack speed, after it got buffed. Regards from Wraeclast. 1337 21gn17ur3
