Glacial Hammer Dual Wield?

Okay, so I wanna make a Glacial Hammer Dual Wield maru... and my question is, will the skill work with 2 x 1h maces of all kind or do I specifically need 2 x 1h hammers? I checked the Wiki art and it says:
"Dual Wielding attacks will alternate weapons unless one of the weapons is not a hammer. In this case, the hammer will be used for all attacks."
What I wanted to do is a combo: glacial hammer + melee splash + melee pdmg (or WED if its gonna give me a better dps) + faster attacks + multistrike on a 5l chest. To avoid further questions, I'm gonna run mana & life leech off items (probably an amu or something) the same way I'm doing with my current char (3% mana and 5% life leech off a single amu, 2% life leech off a node).
I could be wrong, as I'm only speculating based on what the tool tip shows for Glacial Hammer, but I believe the only way you would not alternate attacks between weapons is if one of the two 1H is something other than a mace class weapon, i.e. you were wielding a dagger and a mace. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Still in the alpha stage, but at least build diversity isn't an issue: https://wolcengame.com/home/
2x any.

p.e. you can use a sceptre and a mace, or a hammer, or whatever.

if you use a non-applicable weapon alongside with a mace, then opnly the mace will attack, and the other weapon will be just a stat stick + aspd boost.

keep in mind thought, that your leech would be far lower than what you might think because the physical damage protion is only half the damage.

lastly, with all those damage reduction support gems (ms, splash) and no cold penetration gem, your base damage will be way low and you will probably have problem freezing rares and the likes.

usually, for elemental attacks you want slow heavy hits, like p.e. in your setup using something like GH-cold penetration-physical-wed-proliferation, since none of those actually lowers base damage and they add quite a bit of punch

^correct , the skill specifies which item types it uses to attack, so if you equip another item type in dual wield it will only hit with the valid type and the other weapon will be a sort of off-hand.

Edit : the problem is GH is very weak. You need insane gear to bypass that. (like a 600+ staff)

It converts physical to elemental = so 50% of your damage gets reduced by resistances

you only have 50% physical left = less leach and less armor penetration

Due to this it has a very low "actual" damage. (non-tooltip dps)
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

A very good way to make this is going 'realistic' dual wielding - you use a mace in main hand to do damage and a dagger or claw in offhand to apply dual wield passives to your weapon attack, enable blocking and offer passive bonuses. Probably the best offhand weapon for this setup is 'el cheapo' Ungil's Gauche, it has a nice crit bonus and a huge block chance, you can reach max block easily with one of those and block passives from dex area.

It's a decent build, a very fast attacker, going crit is possible with scepters (although good physical sceptres are rare) and it's great defensively because of high block and freeze potential. Mara probably isn't best suited for it, ranger, duelist and shadow are the best choices... and scion, of course :)

It can also be done as physical damage with double strike and ground slam.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

One thing, GH is going to be my AoE skill (hence multistrike and splash), so I believe spreading the damage over multiple targets I'll be doing just fine when it comes down to leech and such. For solo targets I'm planning to use dual strike + faster attacks + melee pdmg + added fire.

And when it comes down to defense, I'm always going full armor, my 2 current chars have respectively 10.5k (lvl 76 duelist) and 12.7k (lvl 77 ranger) armor (before buff).
