What does "MT" stand for?
I noticed that when someone writes something in a wrong chat channel, then they usually write "MT".
I wonder, what does that stand for? |

To add to that, the term mistell comes from MMO jargon.
In MMOs you can often use the /tell moniker to whisper someone without the other players seeing it. (think POEs @ symbol) So if someone wanted to tell another person but instead posted in some public channel it become a mistell and better be marked as such (otherwise they might wonder what the heck you were on about now). As a arpg/mmo player for 15+ years I often use "MT" "miss tell" when I say something in wrong chat. I do notice that alot of "new" players don't understand what that means.
I think it spawned somewhere in Vanilla WOW. In POE i started using WC (wrong chat) just because I cant be bothered explaining what MT stands for anymore. I'm fairly certain mistell and various abbreviations of it started long before MMOs as we know them today, let alone WOW (which isn't even a decade old!). I remember using "m/t" or "m/r" (mis-reply) on some Muds and Mushes...
